www.acecrc.org.au Estimating Sea-level Extremes in an Uncertain Future

Welcome

Sea-level rise during this century will lead to a significant increase in both the likelihood and frequency of flooding events from the ocean. This web tool allows you to select one of 29 locations around Australia (for which there is good existing sea-level data), a future greenhouse gas emission scenario and the period during which you require the flooding risk. The tool will then output a graph indicating the probability of experiencing at least one flooding event during this period (red line) for a range of design heights. The blue line indicates the equivalent probability curve for conditions of constant sea level, set at the value for the year 2000.
